Sight Line Volume XIII: The Covenant Classroom

Dear readers,

This month, we return to The Covenant Classroom! Inside you’ll find reflections from our 2016 Covenant Award recipients, a retrospective on 25 years of grant making in Jewish education, a tribute to one of the great Jewish philanthropists and leaders in Jewish education, Bill Berman, an article about civil discourse and civic engagement and photos and videos featuring educators and students teaching, learning and innovating across the country.

We’re also proud to share one of the final accomplishments of Harold J. Wechsler, z”l, before his untimely passing earlier this month. Dr. Wechsler, former co-Director of NYU’s Ph.D. Program in Education and Jewish Studies and Professor of Jewish Education and Educational History, made certain that the work of his graduate students of whom he was so very proud was announced to the general Jewish education public. We’ve linked to their dissertation abstracts, here.

Remember, there’s always room for you in our classroom. Send a photo and caption of your “Covenant Classroom,” or shoot a 20-second video about your favorite Jewish educator, and we’ll feature it online.

Enjoy the warming temps…spring is on its way!

Harlene
