To develop the digital media component of the Shalom Sesame project to introduce children in the United States to the heritage of Israel and Judaism.

While the producers initially viewed their website as a complement to their well-received DVD series, they soon discovered that internet-based media was both more compelling to families and had greater potential to reach those who might happen upon the site serendipitously.

Shalom Sesame also discovered that families were engaging differently with online content than they typically did with older forms of media. The ability to customize both the content and length of one’s experience made the website a more accessible and engaging family learning experience. By the end of the grant period, Shalom Sesame had fully shifted its focus from DVDs to the internet.
