Limmud FSU International Foundation – To fund a holistic volunteer education and leadership training program for United States-based Limmud FSU volunteers.
Limmud FSU brings together Jews from the Former Soviet Union (FSU) through dynamic, pluralistic gatherings drawing large and enthusiastic audiences. Limmud FSU promotes lifelong Jewish learning, strengthens Jewish identity, and works to create a cadre of motivated, engaged, and interconnected Russian-speaking Jewish (RSJ) leaders.
As part of the program offerings of Limmud FSU, two conferences, one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast, take place annually. Each conference provides rich Jewish educational experiences, including workshops focused on a wide range of topics including: social and political trends in the United States, Israel, and the FSU; traditional text study; Jewish cooking; and Jewish arts and culture. All of Limmud FSU’s programs are designed and implemented by volunteers from the RSJ community. Intensive training for its volunteers will not only benefit those individuals but also the organization and community at large.
Limmud FSU is proposing to expand its training to include pre-conference studies and training, as well as workshops, seminars, co-sponsored events with Jewish educational and communal organizations, and web-based learning, all of which will take place throughout the year. These additional training opportunities will focus on programming, facilitation skills, and Judaic content.
