The Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School Chagit Celebrates Across the Jewish World project expanded and created a formal curriculum for the Chagit initiative, which linked lower elementary school students in several Jewish day schools in North America and in Israel in the study of Hebrew language, and also enabled other cross-communal educational and social programs. Ignition Grantee Reflections: Impacts and Learnings
“Where are we now, what did we accomplish, and what have we learned?”

“Given how valuable and rich the Tal-Am materials are, it could have been easier to just rely on that and not create something new. But this initiative invited teachers to develop new areas of expertise. And despite how good the Tal-Am program is, it doesn’t give you a glimpse of Israeli culture. Here, the students were able to actually see Israeli kids celebrating Yom Ha’atzmaut through the interactive boards. The program has broadened the school’s reach and connection to other Jewish schools in our community and beyond.”
