Yeshivat Maharat – To revise and expand its three-year Leadership Development Curriculum to include knowledge of pedagogy, experiential education, and entrepreneurship for all Yeshivat Maharat students.
Yeshivat Maharat currently prepares students through a curriculum focused on deep scholarship in Jewish law, pastoral skills, and leadership training. The leadership curriculum, currently on a three-year cycle, was originally designed in collaboration with Advancing Women Professionals.
Yeshivat Maharat believes that, in addition to pastoral skills and knowledge of Jewish law, it is essential for clergy to have strong skills in pedagogy (to disseminate and convey knowledge broadly), in experiential Jewish education (to engage children and adults in a meaningful and captivating way), and also in entrepreneurship and business (to be the leaders and innovators of their own synagogues or non-traditionally based communities). To that end, Yeshivat Maharat is partnering with experts in several fields to develop and implement curricula to address these needs. They will reimagine its current three-year leadership program, expanding it to four years and adding new components in pedagogy, entrepreneurship, and business. Additionally, curriculum will be developed for experiential education and formal pedagogy.
