The Covenant Award, established in 1991, is a prestigious and widely respected recognition of educators and innovators who have made a distinguishable mark in the realm of Jewish education, and across its myriad settings, denominations and levels.

“They do not share one denomination, one pedagogical approach, one teaching venue, or one definition of teaching,” notes Eli N. Evans, chairman of the Foundation’s board of directors. “The one commonality among these uncommon people is their abiding love of Judaism and the Jewish people and their devotion to the perpetuation of the Jewish heritage. In ways large and small, each has helped to make a Jewish renaissance imaginable.”

What are these?

Our Jewish tradition puts significance on this 18th anniversary, as it corresponds to the Hebrew word for life, ‘chai.’ And so we are gathered to celebrate that Tree of Life that we planted 18 years ago and to marvel at all the wonderful fruit that it has borne.” — Eli Evans, chairman of the board of directors, The Covenant Foundation
