I was thrilled to hear of your being honored with the Covenant Award and grateful to have been inspired by your extraordinary teaching.

Beth, in the spirit of Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, you are truly a "text person." Your students, their families, your colleagues and your friends learn life-long lessons from the Jewish content you convey. Even more importantly, the "text" of who you are and how you teach moves and inspires us to think more deeply, care more fully, and extend our reach further toward others than we might otherwise. How fortunate we are to have such a powerful "text" to learn from. Mazel tov to you -- and yasher koach to the Covenant Foundation for choosing so wisely!

Bernie, No mazal tov for you since Rambam did not believe in mazal and since his was the fruit your prophetic d work. I was very honored to be a friend and co learner in hartman almost 40 years ago and to touch base in Cleveland on the way and to watch your great achievements (reported though Michael Simon's eyes) in Boston.
